From the 17th to the 21st of October Padare/Enkundleni/Men's Forum on Gender will be holding dialogues with Men , Boys and Community Leaders on Ending Child marriages. The organisation will be popularizing the January 2016 Constitutional Court ruling that declared marrying any person under the age of 18 years illegal in Zimbabwe. The dialogues will also challenge Zimbabwean men to take action against child marriages.
Padare is participating in the National Stakeholder meeting on gender and HIV organised by the National AIDS Council working with the National Gender and HIV Technical Working Group. Interesting questions around resources allocated to HIV and AIDS , the work of women's organisations and also male involvement. What can men do and where should the line be drawn in terms resources allocated to male involvement?
Next week we are in Chipinge District where we are working with Plan Chiredzi in the Boys for Change programme targeting 250 boys at 5 rural schools.
Padare together with its partners in the Gender and Faith Network will be hosting regional faith leaders to strengthen the regional gender justice movement.
Padare has invited selected male gender champions that they have worked with before for a one day Indaba that will explore ways of getting more men involved in denouncing gender based violence, especially child marriages.More details will be posted soon.
